APX 8500 GPS Option

I have an APX8500 that I enabled the "Location" and menu item "LOC" in my CPS for GPS, connected a GPS antenna to the QMA connector, but the SAT icon continues to flash as if it is unable to receive a signal. When I select refresh, the display indicates "no service" I verified in my flashcode that I do have the GPS option GA00229 enabled in the firmware, but no joy. I also tried another new cable to the radio with same results..
I tried 3 different GPS antennas, but still does not appear to work. I have an APX 8000 and a 7000XE which I did the same settings in the CPS and they are performing as they should.
