Batboard

I have a APX4000 and the battery is a little loose sideways and vertical. A new battery is the same loose. Power cycles often. Looks like problem can be metal frame or plastic housing. Which gives the most trouble?

I need to add that is a 2 knob model with 3 screws in control top.
