Railroad Spectra will not power on

I have a dash mount original railroad Spectra and it has gone dead and will not power on. I just use it as a monitor on my desk. Is there a common cure for this problem?

The most common problem with those radios is bad capacitors. There may be obvious leakage and circuit board damage.
