Made up my own instructions; Feel free to use as needed.....This applies to models allowing user scan.....
MAXTRAC / RADIUS SCANNING INSTRUCTIONS …..(similar for GM300)
NOTE: make sure the mic is "hung up" or the radio won't scan. You can do this in several ways depending on what type of mic you have.
1. When using a mic that has 2 isolated grounding areas on the back, hang the mic in a metal clip.
2. When using one with a push-button, hang it in a clip that mechanically pushes that button in.
3. When using one with a plain hang up back, the hang up clip must be grounded.
4. The base station desk mic is always hung up.
(the Mon(itor) light will toggle on and off as you change the hang up state (unless you have "off hook PL" enabled=no light) (or you have the monitor on=light stays lit, hit monitor button-lower left).
There are 2 ways channels can get added to the scan list to be scanned;
1. They can be set up with the computer, with a unique list assigned to each channel and scanned by starting the SCAN with desired channel displayed (bottom middle button). This is indicated by a SINGLE bar on the bottom of the display, OR for Priority, the bottom bar AND the top bar (NOT the middle bar). The main Priority channel will be the channel the scan started on. The second priority will be as (if) programmed in the computer. The Pri(ority) LED will FLASH with a signal on the main priority, and be STEADY with a signal on the second priority.
2. OR you can add or delete channels from the front panel to create a USER scan list. First you need to add some channels;
Push and hold the SCAN button until the second beep (bottom middle), the display will flash.
Scroll thru the channels and on desired channels, hit the SELECT button (bottom right). A "hack" mark will appear in the upper left display on those channels to be scanned, hit SELECT again to "unhack" channels.
To make PRIORITY channel(s); Hold the SELECT button until the Pri(ority) light comes on, flashing for main and steady for secondary.
Note; the first one you do is the main and the second one will be the secondary.
Also note; TO CHANGE PRIORITY CHANNELS, you have to "unselect" either of them, and set the desired the desired one(s)....
Hit SCAN to exit the setup mode,
Hit SCAN to start the scan (unless you entered the setup with it scanning).
Hit SELECT to toggle thru the types of scan, (if the bar(s) flash, the mic is not hung up).
One bar on bottom is the computer set up list as described in the first paragraph,
Bottom 2 bars will scan the USER list you set up without priority checking,
All 3 bars will be your USER list with priority!
Hints;
1. If you start USER scan while on a channel that is not in your list, it will scan that channel too!
2. If you want to temporarily remove an annoying channel from being scanned; when scan has stopped due to a signal on that channel, hit and hold the select button till it goes away. This is called "nuisance delete"-NOTE you cannot remove either priority channel or the channel you started the scan from. (Nuisance deleted channels will be added back when you exit scan or turn the radio off.)
