Guys,

I have had a p1225 for the past couple of days and I think the codeplug might be bad but I'm not sure.

When powering up the radio, it automatically starts transmitting. It won't stop unless I change channels, then back again. Once that happens, the mon and opt buttons don't work, and the radio won't transmit when pressing the PTT. Also, the light on the top flashes once every few seconds. Normally, I would think it's scanning but this is only a two channel radio and it doesn't support the scan option. Anyone ever seen this? Any ideas?

Thanks

Jack

Sounds like your PTT button is shorted. I can duplicate your problem by holding in the PTT button when I turn on the radio & change channels.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. I will check that out and see what happens.

Thanks for the tip. Took the radio apart and found that the speaker mic plug appeared to be shorted. I messed around with it and got the radio working again. I guess these things aren't the most sturdy radio Motorola ever made.

The P1225 is a very sturdy radio except for the accessory jack, and antenna contact. The speaker/mic jacks fail quite eassaly in these radios. Dirt and moisture gets in the connector very eassly. This can give you no receive audio, no transmit audio also.
Looks like you did the right thing, that is what I do to check them when in for repair.
If it does this again, you need to change the jack.
