First, Remove the antenna from the radio. If you look on the bottom of the radio by the battery release, you should see two small indents that are between the metal backplane and the case plastic. GENTLY pry the plastic awawy from the backplane, using a blunt tool (gasket close by), and the back half of the radio (RF) will seperate from the front (audio/control). Past that, it gets a little dicey. Unless you know exactly what you're after/doing, I'd leave it to someone who's done it a few times. The clips holding the audio/control boards together in the front of the radio are notoriously brittle.
Good luck, Will

By the way, a hammer and chisel WILL work just fine to open a Visar!
Be warned, though, Visars are notorious for not working after being opened up for any reason. They're what we call 'delicate'.

Heh, heh. They're also notorious for not working even BEFORE you open them. Delicate indeed.

Hello.
That radio is small.
Perhaps the only good thing about it.

It is the size that made me interested in this radio. I REALLY like my Sabers..Oh yes, but, they tend to stick out of ones jacket pocket....
Oh..and since I am here..might as well add my .5 cents worth as well..In the immortal words of my younger brother (Who at 27 still says things like this)...Batlabs "Rocks"!

In the shirt pocket they are a good radio.
It can not take the abuse of the working radios.Great for the boss but easy to damage
in the working world.Funny how the info is on the front half of radio. You go to trade keypad(vhf)to uhf and you still have uhf?

I found out that //otorola sells a tool made especially to open Jedi radios.
Part number 6680334E07 Jedi opening tool.
$25 cost.
I have fubarred several cases using a screwdriver, and the cost of one frontcover would buy the tool.
