Almost done with the install on the Surburban.

Current equipment in the truck:
Gamber Johnson MCS console
2 remote spectra's (mounted under the passenger seat)
1 Whelen MCP01 control head
1 Whelen ISP188 power supply mounted under the 2nd row seating
4 hideway strobes and 1 pair of grill lights (to be upgraded to 6 hideaway)
Garmin GPS 3+
Nextel
Laptop used for APRS, GPS and internet

To come:
Lowband X9000 (I hope it fits where I want it)
Edge Ultra SC lightbar
ICOM 2800 with TNC going back in
Black Brush guard with two nice PIAA's

Still have some touch up wire hiding/running to do, but I think its coming out fairly well. The mics are mounted thru the rear ports on the control head and are mounted in the front of the console and are out of the way of everything/everyone, but still easy to reach. The spectra heads are not flush mounted yet as I am waiting for the proper mounts to come in.

***Finally received the proper mounts for the spectra's, and they sent a better one for the A9 head. I also added a car charger for the Nextel and the cord runs nicely around the left side of the steering wheel. Some people wanted to see how the front of the console was done up, and so here it is. I still need to move the speaker wire under but that's going to happen after finish running the APRS setup in. If I can do it, the TNC is going to be mounted in the unused space at the end of the console unless the Radio shack CB will fit there, and run a a/b box on the lowband antenna. (Don't really need it, but it comes in handy on I95  )

Most of the stuff will go in quick, I just need some time off and wamer (read above 10 degree) weather.

Hey- the larger vehicle allows for more stuff, eh? You never know who might read this, dude! :) Signed, "101" (Yeah, THAT 101!) Nice job, Fred!

PJ, could you please take more digital pis for me? I've got a 03 k2500 suburban on order as we speak and I will be doing a similar install. Where did you place the remote radios themselves? i was thinking either under the 2nd seat or along the back interior wall on the passenger or drivers side.

I know the interiors are slightly between your model and the 03 but any ideas do help. Your setup looks very similar to what I did with my 95 Yukon.

What height is laptop mount? I'd like to keep mine low and below the dash in the new vehicle.

Sure, PM with you email address, and I will give ya what I can. The spectra's are right under that pass seat, so at the moment I have 15 ft of control head cable (2x) bundled there now.

No!!!

Put the pics here where we can see them.

This stuff has sure come a long way since I was installing MT500 MVAs in NYPD radio cars in 1980. That was during the "Dodge Omni experiment."

Looks great PJ. Keep up the good work.

Is there any room in the cargo area or under the driver's side for the spectras? At least if there is some room under the driver's seat you can put a spectra under there to save some space on the passenger side.

You can fit one spectra under the drivers seat, but not two due to the power seat motor and height adjustment. The two spectra's under the pass seat (non powered) fit very nicely.

They can fit under the 2nd row seat behind the driver. I had two x9000's in there with some room to spare. Currently I have my power supply there, and I am 99% sure I am going to put my lowband x9000 there too. I just need to relocate an antenna first, and temps above 15 degree first too.

There is plenty of room on the passenger side 2nd row seat, but thats where I have everyone getting to the 3rd row get in. Less snow/mud/water to get to the equipment.

Remember to consider cooling needs for those radios stuffed in tight spaces - under seats, etc.

Both radio's are low power, but have a good airflow by them.
