HLN1185D
HLM1185E

Thanks for your time

I'll take a stab at this:

Unless they have some type of internal option board, probably nothing other than progressive revisions of the same unit.

the 1185E is the Astro Spectra version, it will still work on a spectra, though. I use an 1185E w/ VRS on my spectra.

Siren Amp HLN1185E info.

Here's the listing in M's database:

HLN1185E SYS 9000 SIREN/PA Unit of Measure: 1 EA $705.00

It also lists the A/B/C/D versions, but after each version it states in red text: The item HLN1185A has been replaced with HLN1185E. Selecting this item will add HLN1185E to your cart.

I would assume this to mean that all the later units are backwards compatible. (just as 007 and PCSAR have stated)

Never swap system 9000 siren boxes with Astro/spectra siren boxes, I have found it will cause intermitten problems with the radio. The astro/spectra siren boxes are digital, the system 9000 are analog. The do work but it will cause crazy issues with the radio. I have seen it say out of range and have no problem with the radio. I have seen it cause random and numorous issues.

Thomsoningreen - I'm wondering why you felt the need to Lazarus a *6-year-old* post to add incorrect information?

There is very little difference between the HLN1185B and -E... and it certainly isn't that one is "analog" and the other "digital" (hint: both use digital data for control). The 1185E is simply a later revision than the -B model.
