I have a Spectra T83GXA7HA9AK Securenet 9000. I installed a hybrid carrier board HLN6000B and a TRN9843A DES module. I set up the radio for securenet wo/xl [as a matter of fact I've tried various Securnet settings in RSS] and the radio reacts normally; ie, when transmitting in secure mode 'no key' is displayed along with normal beeps. My problem is the unit 'fails' when transfering key from the T3020BX KVL. I've checked the cable for continuity and it seems to fit tight in the recpt. next to the high power cable.

I've searched through Batlabs for info, and found two DES modules listed for the Spectra [TRN4836A & TRN9843A]. I did find on another site where they list the TRN9843A DES module as a 'DES MULTI KEY SECURE HYBIRD' and Batlabs includes TRN4836A as a DES module for the Spectra. Long story, but do I have the wrong module?

I have sabers with DES modules NTN4712B that take my key via the DES T3020BX KVL easily. As I stated, I've tried different setups under RSS Securenet options screen. Any clues as to what I should try next.

I think you'll find that a BX keyloader is not capable of loading a multikey
hybrid.

Is it in the right socket (there are two) and is it right side up (the printed TRN number should not be visible when placed in the carrier board)?

The imprint on the used HLN6000B board [rubber backing behind the module] was only on one socket but I did try both sockets to be sure. Neither position allowed the key to be accepted. And I do have the trace side against the HLN6000B board with the components exposed as I've seen before, so I'm figuring RadioSouth has hit the nail. I was initially unaware that the DES module I had was a multi-key module. I've gotten a TRN4836A single key hybrid coming. If that doesn't work.....well back to the drawing board......If this works, I'll have a TRN9843A multi-key des for sale/trade for another TRN4836A single key des module.

You should be using the hybrid in the socket that is perpendicular to the connector that connects the board to the radio (HY701 and J501). None of the hybrids themselves are multikey (except for old DVP hybrids where the second code is derived from the first code). All multikey Securenet boards use an external microprocessor on the PC board to load the key into a normal single-key hybrid. The HLN6000 doesn't do Advanced Securenet Multikey. Your BX KVL should load this radio without any problem. I would make sure that you have continuity on all the connections from the keyload socket to the hybrid socket (WE, KEY, KID, KIG) and that all of the signals on the hybrid pins look OK. The PN for the service manual for the HLN6000 is 68P80102W33. There is a pretty good trouble shooting chart for "Option Does Not Load Key" in the W33 manual.

Where are you keyloading the radio through?

I'm using the keyload socket next to the power connection. [High power 110watt unit] I'll work on checking those connections JohnG suggested.

SUCCESS...Intermitent contact with loader connector pin 10 and the KVL "dongle type' cable connector.

Does this manual have schematics that show the reclocked discriminator data?
