I have 5 NTN4796A Multi Unit Battery Chargers that seem to have dead charging pockets, I have tried to get a service manual to repair the dead pockets but have been unable to find a part number. Does anyone know what the problem might be with these units and if so how can I repair the problem.
Thanks

Fast Pocket Check.
The charger pockets are plug and play.
Look at trading the pockets.I would use
two or three good batteries and make the tests
with the same batteries.

You're in luck:
Motorola makes a:
REX4574B Multi-Unit Charger Housing Pocket Replacement Kit at:
(you sitting down?) $301.75 ea.
But first:
Take the pockets out (they just plug in to the board) and clean the contacts with a gum (NOT a pencil) eraser and some mild solvent if necessary. The contacts are plated is why you don't use an abrasive pencil eraser.
The pockets get dust, crud, spilled soda, donut crumbs and everything else down in there.
Also clean the contacts on the radio batteries the same way, they pickup all sorts of goo while being drug around the city doing important work and all that.
