Are heat guns really that great? Ive been using a hair dryer and it seems to do the trick, but takes a while. Any reason I should get a real heat gun? Which brands should I go with/avoid?

Hair dryers don't put out enough heat, i.e. they take too long. You have to be careful with Heat Guns, they put out some major heat and can melt your insulation, shrink tubing, etc.

Any quality heat gun will last a fairly long time, some good prices on Ebay.

Get a heat gun - I picked mine up from an electronic surplus outfit for $35.00 several years back and it is still going strong. Much better than a hair dryer.

The heat gun is the olny way to go.

The glue gun can help a lot also.
