Yes it is for real. I do not know why
u can not test a radio freq.
If u are not a tech then read the radio at
radio shack store. Use their freq. counter
and test on a scanner.I
like my service monitor but u can work around it.I do not like a sale when they say can not test but still hope for big $$.

IMHO, and that of my friends around here as well, "Can't test" and no picture in the ad means "It doesn't work" which equals "Save your money for a radio which works." If it does work, by some remote chance, then the bandsplit is probably 162-174 and 403-430!

And even if it does work - - "Who Has the Prototype Software?"

Prototype to me always involved a little wire-wrapping!!! Good luck to the buyer on that one !

They were apparently developed for the Military, most likely Nellis. I have a freind that demoed one for me a couple of years ago. It is suppose to be a trunked unit that will come up on VHF and UHF.
The top left menu key shoul read VHF and the top right should read UHF. I was blown away by it but there was no chance in hell he was going to get me one. At first I thought it was just going through a cross band patch but he showed me on the test monitor what is was really doing. The only problem with it is finding the software. You stand a better chance of finding LAB software that will flash all your radios to your haerts desire.
