Attempting to program an Syntor X module to 136-154 MHz (147.320). The module programs up OK, but the radio will not rx/tx or has any audio/squlech. I reprogamed the module for 148-172 (147.320) and it works OK. I want to be able to get the unit to work in the 145.00 MHz part of the band.
Is their a jumper in the module that needs to be added or removed to make it operate in this band split?, or something in the radio?
The radio was operating in the 155.00 MHz part of the band.

From what I remeber there is some retuning required if the radio is being programmed for a new bandsplit. There is a good souce of info out there, I beleive it's called Mike's syntor page, try doing a search for it.

If you open the radio's top lid with the push button and locate the VCO unlock light (it shines up through a hole in the main RF board - the Motorola manual has a picture of its location). Make sure the radio is not scanning (you may have to remove Personality Board jumper JU1). If the VCO unlock light stays lit up, then your VCO is not locking on the programmed frequency. Here is a link on the VCO lock test:

If it not locked here is the technical explanation:

If the VCO is locking then you may have a problem with the control head jumpering or a repair problem with the radio or cable.

Send me an e-mail. I had the same type of problem and can probably help you through it.
