Does anyone know if i put a new face on a 2 channels radius and use the hex editor to add channels will the radio work. I have added channels to a 8 channel gm300 and edited the mdf file and its ok. Somewher i was reading that you can change the face panel and the radio will take the edited code plug. Thanks for the help.

I don't know about hex editing but it can be done through lab software. You have to blank the logic board and reitialize it as a 16 channel model. You then replace the face plate and make sure you select head unit #01 instead of 00.
It works.

Yes, you need to change the "control head" (face plate) with the display version and then use your Hex Edited .MDF file with the standard Radius RSS and no problems.
I done a whole bunch of them for my own use and no problems. Did not have to do any thing else, got 16 chans and scan!!!!
Now to find a easy way to make a 6, 8, 14, or 16 chan radio take the two channel control panel--- have several radios that only need one channel and talk-arround!!! Any ideas?

Will, it seems easy; the buttons of the 2chan model, according to the serv man, must operate as chan up/dwn. Just program two channels, one duplex and one as talkaround,
and move by the buttons. The problem is that
you will not know on what chan you are!
I must do the same for me in the near future; if still interested, I can e-mail you my solution...

Thanks Will I got the "control head" changed and the radio now has 16 channels. The problem is that it will not scan. I can add channels to the scan list but they will not stay. Do you is there anything i need to change in th .mdf file? Thanks for the help.Tim

Rumor has it that... if some how (snicker) someone managed to obtain a legal copy (ROFLMAO) of the lab software for the radius, that if you read out a real 16 or 32 channel, then clone it to your '16' or '32' channel, that the radio will see itself as such. No fuss, no muss. This supposedly works on the Maxtrac as well. Strictly a rumor of course.
