I know the MTX838 is all I've ever seen here in Canada. The service manual lists the MTX838 model numbers as MTX8000, so I assume they're identical.

i believe the mtx838 is an export version of the mtx8000....usually you can tell by the white label and also they are made at the plant in penang, malaysia
