I have a VHF HT1250 w/ full keypad and it has firmware ver. 02.00.03. I am looking for 2 things:

1) a codeplug (or the actual settings) that have the proper settings related to recieving and transmitting (I've heard that these radios have the ability to be comprable to the HT1000's reception, however when they are sent out the preset settings are off?)

2) What is the prpoer DOS settings when Im using a MDC1200 system with this radio. When the DOS is set appox. 50ms longer than the Pretime I get a "clip" when recieving the dekey MDC transmision, its very annoying. I noticed if I disable the DOS settings then its gone BUT the radio unmutes for a variety of electronic interuptions (computers, microwaves, etc.) *** The PL is set properly too!!! Its not CSQ.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

One note about MDC decode - if you are using "post" mdc signals, there is no way the recieving radio can know to expect the other user to de-key. So, you will always hear the little chirp - the amount of time it takes the radio to say "Hey! I'm getting some data! Time to mute!"

If you want to get rid of it, switch the radios to transmite a "pre" signal, and you won't hear the complete squaks, unless your scanning.

One thing you must pay attention to if you use "pre" type MDC:

If you try to eliminate most or all of the keyup "squawk" with DOS and other settings, you may miss the first part of some transmissions IF THE TRANSMITTING PARTY IS NOT USING AN MDC ENCODED RADIO.
Such can happen if everybody uses "pre" MDC and the dispatch center doesn't. You may miss something if the dispatcher is a "quick-talker"
