mdc 1200 decode on ht1250 from an xts3500

ok here is what i am getting at. i work in nyc. i have programmed into my ht1250 the fdny t band fire gorund freuencies. i am able to monitor them. i have the rx pl set to CSQ. i am not able to decode the mdc data. all of there radios encode, but i can not decode it. in my cps the signalling tab for recieve mdc system is set to:MDC1. the signalling squelch is set to Or. now on other channels i am able to decode the id even if i dont not have the alias set up it shows the regular 4 digit i.d.
is the reason i cant decode the id because there is no rx P.L.?
or is it because xts3500's use a different mdc?
the signalling system is set up to decode mdc id.
that was one of the 1st things i checked!
do i need to change the signalling squelch on the fdny channels to AND?
i have been around this stuff for over 10 years and i am quite baffeled any suggestions would be appreacited.

Umm, from what i remember, fdny does not use MDC. from what i remember, they use ATIS, which sounds a little like MDC, but it is in the frond ALL the time and is really really fast. From all the 9-11 specials i saw, all i ever heard comming out of their xts's was ATIS. if it is ATIs, you will have to get a radio with the ATIS flash. so, i dont know if this helps any...........

Umm, not many advantages as far as i know, it does all the same stuff as mdc but i am not shure otherwise. the only radio i have that can do atis is a visar, but i have not seen or heard of any advantages using atis over mdc. i guess it is just a choice of preference.
There is only one other type of signaling taht i can think of that could sound like MDC bame, that is Ge-Star. I dont think that they are using that, but is they are, then tht could be your problem. Again, with Ge-star, i have not known any advantages, but Ge-Star can be pre or post like mdc. this is what ge-star sounds like -------->

Hope this helps.

"OR" and "AND" unmuting conditions have no meaning if the squelch is set for CSQ.
Possible advantages of ATIS

As a member of the above mentioned agency I can tell you that our portables that have a screen (III models) that decodes the ANI bursts but unlike Mdc-1200 which only give you 4 digits, ours has 7 digits. We have a very detailed code as to which unit and more exactly, which exact member within the unit is transmiting.
I currently have an astro saber III uhf 450-512 which I am in the process of setting up and any info in regards to getting the ASIII to decode this on the screen would be greatly appreciated if this is even possible.

FDNY uses a special form of ASTRO signalling. When one radio keys up, the burst send out is a digital packet of the unit id (hence, 7 digits). Although the signalling is digital, the voice is analog.
As far as setting one up that allows you to decode usmcdd214, it might be possible to setup a personality as mixed mode. That way, it *should* decode the ASTRO ID but revert back to analog voice.
