I have converted a Type one maxtrac to a type two maxtrac. We added a type two eprom, and loaded a type two codeplug. The great thing is, it works great one Washington CO. OR trunked system, but when I try to listen to Salem's system all i hear is a static burst with the control channel in the background, about 8db lower. One theory is that the maxtrac was not made to handel the high end frequencies that are used in the system. The frequencies are 856.7125, 875.7125(c), 859.4875(c) 860.4875, 866.125. (c) indicates control frequency. If anyone has any idea's on how to correct this problem, any suggestion would be great! Thankyou.

Just a couple simple ideas, maybe they're encrypted? Encrypted signals on non-capable radios sound like static but the control channel thing's got me unless this system is VOC capable--never used VOC.

Did you use the C6 codeplug to init the radio after replacing the EEPROM?

I used a C-6 codeplug to initate the radio after replacing the e-prom. The system is not encrypted as i can listen to it on 3 trunktracker scanners, a MTS2000 (which both the MTS2000 and the maxtrac have the same tg's, sys id's and controll channels), as well as in straight conventional mode. What is VOC?

I noticed your last freqency was XXX.1250. If this is so, I don't believe the maxtrac can operate trunked with regular and splinter freqs intermixed. Maybe I'm talking out my @#$ here but That may be it.

That appears to be a verry valid point. When i was listening this morning, the transmissions went to 860.4875, and i was able to listen to it GREAT! So, how do we modifiy the radio to do both at the same time, or is it impossible.?

There was another post about splinter frequencies in the last couple of weeks. It was stated that the Type II Maxtrac could do one or the other, but not both. Many other radios, such as Spectras & your MTS2000 can do both. If that's your problem, you appear to be outta luck.
