i am looking into buying a jt1000. i know these radios are field programmable but i have read things about a programming key. is this a piece of equipment or what? any info u could give would be greatly appreciated

The jt programming key connects to the speaker-mic connector on the radio. For more info go to the batlabs model specific info. There is a diagram of it there.

This is the best radio on the market!!!Go ahead and buy the factory key rather than a rigged up one,it will work time after time.If you buy a used one make sure the display is good,i have seen them at hamfest that had bad displays and get the password so you don't have to have it reprogamed.
