Hello, Happy New Year! I have a Maxtrac 800Mhz Model# FUF1031A It is a Trunking radio, however, it has a blanked eprom. I have the LAB Rss, and I was directed to F2 into allignment, and F6 into board replacement, and F2 into logic board. I did this, and got to a menu of several "Product Line" names. I selected 'MAX TRK Options' and the first Model name that appeared was the maxtrac 820. I don't know much about 800Mhz Trunking maxtracs. After I programed the radio, it restarted, with a short, high pitched tone, followed by a continous low pithced tone, and nothing works. I am intending to use this maxtrac as a conventional radio. And I belive that there are 8 conv. channels available. That is all the info I was given about the radio when I got it, and can no longer get further info... If anyone can help me with this, I greatly appreachiate it. Thankyou, Troy.

Hi:

You really need the correct model
number of the radio. Also, under that
metal cover is a Firmware IC...Depending
on the Version relates to what the radio
can do...Without spacific information, is
tough to give you some good ideas of " how to"

Compare your board # etc...with the list on the maxtrac section. This will give you an idea of the maximum capabilities of the radio. Then choose which model # that accomidates these features. If you have a full 16/32 channel display front (as opposed to the single led indicator 2 channel type) you need to select 01 for front panel after selecting the model you want to burn into it.
There is no need to select a trunking model #. Once the board is blanked it will accept a conventional model number.
It's beeping because you configured it as a trunking model and it's looking for the trunking system to tell it what to do.
They work well for conventional use after all this is done.

Hello, I took a look under the cover, and the firmware is FVN4042B V71.204 and it looks like the model # of the radio is F6985A if that helps any?? or on the outside label FUF1031A. Not sure which one is the correct model #, but both are labeled on the maxtrac, nothing else. No label on rear of maxtrac. Troy.

The model number is directly above the serial number (or below) on the back of the radio. I think they start with Dx5MJA and are similar to D35MJA5DB7AN.

WOW, I am still having trouble with this maxtrac. I've never had this much trouble with motorola radio's... Anyone have more idea's. Troy.

"MAXTRAC
MODEL# FUF1031A
MAXTRAC 8/SYS 8/SUB 8/CONV 800
SMARTNET TYPE 1 C5 15W 8"

This is what I have found so far on a search for this model #.

Your radio has trunking firmware - get yourself a conventional firmware chip HLN5569A version 5.34 from Motorola parts or from Monty.
