Hello To All:

Ok here it goes ... I have the HT750 ... the CPS software (ver 060.000)... and the radio programming cable (the DB25 pin to radio specialty adaptor). So here's my dilemma:

1) The CPS software works off of COM ports ... yet my programming cable has a 25 pin connector???

2) I had always thought that the HT750 did NOT need a RIB ... am I wrong about this? If I am that would answear question #1.

3) If im not wrong then how does the programming cable hook up to the computer ... is it as simple as a "25 pin to 9pin" adaptor???

Any help that you guys could offer would be a HUGE help ... thanks in advance for the info!

There are two separate cables for the pro series. One is a "ribless" cable that connects directly from the radio to the computer (part # RKN4075A), the other cable requires the motorola RIB. Both cables have the DB25 connector on them. For the ribless cable, you just need the converter (I use an old modem cable, db9 to db25 -- easier than crawling behind the desk to reach the com port!). If you have the standard RIB cable, then it plugs into the DB25 port on the RIB, and you'll need an additional DB15 to DB9 cable to connect from the RIB to your computer.

Sounds like good info!!! Is there any way to tell by looking at the cable as to which one I have?

If it's a genuine Motorola cable, it should have a part number on it.

The cable for use with a RIB is part number RKN4074
The RIBless cable is part number RKN4075

The may have a prefix or suffix, but those are the base part numbers.

On my ribless cable, the number appears on a label on the DB25, and on a self-laminating cable label near the connector end.

Alternately, if you gently open up the DB25 end, the RIBless cable has a PC board with electronic "guts" on it, while the RIB cable is simply a cable.

The cable that requires the RIB has two molded DB 25 connectors, one a female-goes to the rib, the other a male that goes to a test set- has the audio in/outs and ptt on it.

The DB-25 connector (computer end) is much longer in length than a standard DB-25 if you have the RIBless cable.
