First off I realize this is a motorola board, however I am in dire need of assistance.
I have obtain a MDX mobile EDACS capable radio. The radio should have 16groups and 16 TG's.
When a tech for the local pd attempt to program it to their system, the radio refused to go into program mode. Apparently you hold the volume rocker button down while turning on the power to go to programming mode. However this radio displays "passed" for self check routine and then goes to a programmed channel. The radio will not move off of that channel/TG no matter what. But I also am not sure if this radio has more than one TG/system programmed into. So that may not mean anything.
Anyhow, are there any GE EDACS techs on here that are familiar with the MDX radio? If so, do you have any suggesions on getting this radio into program mode?
Please help.
Thanks
Dave

MDX
The only thing I found when programming an MDX was to make sure the radio was connected to the computer, cable plugged in, and software running, before turning it on as you described.
Concur with the previous post. You have to have everything connected to get it to go into program mode. Also, I have messed up a few times and forgot to change the EDACS software to tell it is is an MDX radio. If you forget to do that, it will immediately exit program mode and it will have you scratching your head for a while (at least it did me).

Re: GE MDX Programming Question
Came across this by accident but to answer the OP's question for the good of posterity...beaujo_fire wrote:Apparently you hold the volume rocker button down while turning on the power to go to programming mode.
You have to hold the volume rocker in the "UP" position while powering on the radio to get an MDX into programming mode. With EDACS radios (and only EDACS radios) you need to connect all cables and power on the RIB but wait until the software tells you to power on the radio itself (into programming mode).
I never miss a chance to flaunt my GE skillz. That is all.
