Just went to Motorola's Access Point Website and found it will be closing January 31, 2002! You can sign up for Motorola Online, whatever that is. I haven't tried it yet. Thought I'd pass the word.~~Ray
***Update***Just signed up for Motorola Online. Easy and painless. Don't know what benefits this will give me though. Have to wait and see.~~Ray

That's OK. Motorola still has the toll free phone service where you can do everything that was on AccessPoint and more. It is not as convenient as the web site and it ties up Motorola employees on the phone. Maybe this is Motorola's plan to deal with underutilized phones and employees?
I do know from experience that some Motorola dealers can NOT be relied on to sell used parts for older radios. I have helped people that were turned away by dealers, purchase the parts they needed directly from Motorola. In each case the dealer lied and told them the parts were no longer available, even when the dealer was given correct part numbers for currently available parts. I suspect this was because some unethical dealers only wanted to sell new radio systems and did not have the guts to tell someone that they did not want their business unless they spent lots of money?

I just placed an online order over Motorola's Accesspoint just yesterday. And was their computer system ever acting real flakey.
When I went to check out my basket had dumped what I had picked out and instead placed several other items in it. Someone elses "Spectra Parts" mysteriously appeared in my basket instead of my Saber Parts.
I had to start all over after entering and cross referencing numbers for about half an hour. What a hassle! I had to go back and reselect over a dozen items. The second time around I made certain to write down all the items I had selected.
Calling on the phone yesterday might have made my life a little more easy!
Also I noticed that the Motorola Online ordering is not yet totally secure. This really makes me wonder?
With DES and all the other forms of communications encryption that they promote and sell...they decide not to provide secure online ordering?
And....I did voice(type out)my opinion that as a non-dealer I would still like the option of purchasing directly from Motorola. Even though my little $150 order is probably a grain of sand in their daily business!
