What exactly do I need (part numbers) to upgrade a "C" model Saber 2 with a 5D core to a 6D core. I need QCII decode.

To upgrade the CORE version, you need to replace the CORE microprocessor. According to the BatLabs Saber page, it's not an easy (or inexpensive)task.

I actually faced the same problem, for the same reason, and resolved it by buying a 6D Saber I off eBay, and trading the front shield and cases to end up with a 6D Saber II, and a 5D Saber I. (I actually later turned it into a Saber III with a new case, and my HT1250 is now gathering a lot of dust )

If you resold the (now 5D) Saber I (I was going to, but decided to keep mine around for parts), you could probably complete the upgrade for very little money in the end.

If you do the conversion, you will probably have to take the clear silicone cover off of the reference oscillator in order to plug the second flex circuit from the Saber II shield into the Saber I board. If you do this, be sure to put a thin piece of foam on top of the module to hold it in place. I originally skipped the pad, and I just got to tear my radio down again the other day to reseat the module.

Another neat trick that I discovered after the 6D conversion was that, for the most part, the QC tones and the singletone repeater access tones were in the same frequency range. I assigned the A & B tones as access tones 1&2, and now the two RAT buttons can be used as an expedient field tone encoder.

I believe that the seller that I bought my 6D Saber I from (Dishdoc) currently has a couple listed on eBay.

Just so you know, there IS a 'correct' oscillator boot for display model Sabers. It's quite inexpensive and as you know, it's a pain to have to open the radio to reseat a loose oscillator.

I tried Parts ID and Technical Group, but they show the same part for all "Regular" Sabers.

I suppose it's nothing I couldn't fix with an X-Acto knife anyhow..... (now that I've proven that that's not an "optional" part:))
