I am going to bug our sales rep at our next meeting, but he told use that Centracom Gold Elite will be dicontunied in the next couple of years, and replaced with MCC2500 (?). Has anyone else heard of this yet?

Actually, they are going with the Connamd Star and the Command Star Lite from what I understand. The Lite will do digital interfacing such as to an Astro Consolette. Motorola is farming all this out to CSL out of Canada. Same ones who are making the MC2500.

I think there's some confusion. We have customers with hundreds of resource icons using Gold Elite consoles. All computer based, with an easy to use GUI. The Command series don't offer anything like that. We're not talking about a standard tone or digital remote dispatch position. It'll have to be a whole new generation of product to replace it.

The trunking version of the Centracom Gold Elite is not being cancelled for a while.
The convetional model is being replaced with the MCC5500. It is a full featured unit, not to be confused with the destop units made by CML or Gai-tronics (formerly Instrument Associates).

Ah. Now that makes a lot more sense. Is it still going to be computer/software based? I can't see a piece of hardware such as a stand-alone style remote doing what the Gold Elite can do, regardless of how fancy it is. There are many non-trunked customers out there with dozens or even 100+ conventional resources on their screens. It'll be interesting to see when it comes out.

The MCC5500

Our technical guys just returned from training. San Gabriel PD, CA will be the first on the west coast to take delivery.

Same features just a smaller package...basically.

I just have one question: Could they have designed an uglier looking interface? The CC Gold Elite wasn't too bad (though, it had it's own issues) but that's just fugley.
