Where did you get the caprice from? One of our auctions?

Got any more pics of it?

Did it have an NMO hole in the center of the trunk or just the 2 on the fenders and the roof hole? Just trying to get a grasp what the car had in it when we had it...

Nice job IVK. But looking at you pictures has me wondering if there is an easy way to make some type of switch box that would switch one mic between all the radios. I'm thinking something the size of a DEK. I know that I'm starting to get too many mics in my rig.

Dear lord....How do you know which mic to use? Proof that, as I always say, YOU CAN NEVER GO TO FAR!!!

Caprice still rocks

You can get a motorola 220 Mhz radio if you want to spend some money. The CDM1550·LS+ can be had in the 220 Mhz band.

This has got me thinking (something that doesn't happen often...)

On a DEK box, is it possible to get one that instead of being momentary buttons, ones that are an "on or off" style?

I was thinking that you could make a switch box that would connect one mike to different radios and such like that. I say a Motorola DEK, as it would preserve the "Motorola" look to your setup.

Yes, I've seen them with a mix of switches in them. Of course one could always just use latching relays or wire up a circuit to do the same thing. But again, yes, I've seen momentary and on/off switches mixed in DEK boxes. I wish I had one right about now.

You can solder/unsolder the switches from the wildcard (not DEK :D ) boards and move them around as you see fit....I've modified a couple that I have so one has all locking switches, and the other is 4 and 4

Chris.....do you need a Wildcard? I can more than likely get you one cheap (or even free...dunno yet)

wow, I had forgot about this posting......geesh !

sorry for the delay (several years). The car came from a WI state Auction....the one in arlington I think. I bought it from a good ham friend when he had to get rid of a car.

The car was assigned to St. Croix county area, I have the unit number...somewhere.

I never did take pics of the trunk....but sadly I sold the car last summer. A vol firefighter in MD bought it from me, 210,000 miles and still ran great !!!

After I sold the 9C1 I just had my 97 Dodge Ram, and sadly it fell apart just as it turned 100,000 miles. The catalytic went, and the fron axle rusted out. Was almost 2K to repair, so i traded it in on a new 2004 Silverado. After having such good luck with the 2 caprice's I had, I decided to go Chevy again. It was either that or a Ford Ranger.

But now, i am sad that i dont have a squad car lol. so maybe look at a P71 someday.

Thanks for the great comment guys !
