GTX Mobile to LCS2000 conversion

Knowing that an LCS and a GTX mobile are basically the same radio, and knowing that a GTX mobile can't decode systems that contain splinter repeater channels, should I assume that an LCS200 also can't properly decode these systems too? Or does the Smartnet & other enhanced feature capability of the LCS allow it to overcome this obstacle?
I'm just debating on whether or not converting a GTX into an LCS is even worthwhile.

Let me answer my own question since no one else has.
YES! A GTX hacked into a Smartnet LCS2000 will indeed properly decode talkgroups on systems that utilize hybrid splinter channels.
Obviously there's lots of other advantages to having an LCS Smartnet mobile over the plain-jane privacy plus GTX. So if anyone else wants to give it a try, here's what you do to upgrade your GTX mobile:
- Jot down all your tuning data for your GTX from the Service Menu
- Blank the GTX logic board using GTX Lab (Main - F2 - F8 )
- Load a good LCS codeplug in the LCS RSS (Main - F3 - F3). I'll submit my LCS codeplug to the codeplug supersite soon.
- Go to the Board Replacement Screen (Main - F2 - F6)
- Assign the serial number of you choice to the radio then program (F8 )
- Realign your tuning in the LCS Service Menu
That's it! You now have an LCS2000 Smartnet mobile with a GTX faceplate

However, it won't have full Smartzone features until you upgrade the firmware. Wavetar can tell you more about that particular upgrade.
