I understand there is a cable kit available to make two SM50's into a repeater. Is this a moto kit or a home brew kit. I'm looking for the part number or schematic to build my own.

Motorola makes the “RICK” repeater interface for GM300 and Radius mobiles.

Will makes a module that is a lot cheaper and will do the same thing or more.

Or you can look here and make your own, http://www.domtoren.com/990/rptr.pdf .

The drawing is meant for GM300 and similar radius mobiles. The pin connections are similar to the ones used on the SM50. The SM50 does not use the internal speaker jumper in the connector, I believe.

The SM50 is not the preferred choice for a repeater use but should work.

There is an error in the PDF.

Add a wire from pin 7 on the receive radio to pin 7 on the transmit radio.

Or just purchase the right cable from ebay seller mre1032. He makes high quality stuff and includes detailed instructions. He is well known and widely respected in the Motorola world. Plenty of references for him to be found for the searching here and on other Motorola forums.

If you want to tackle it yourself, there's lots of reference info at repeater-builder.com and batlabs.com.
