I have a jedi series converta-com that constantly flashes red to green, even when the radio is not in the holder. It does not charge when you put the radio in the holder. Unit was working fine and without any trauma to the unit has devloped this problem. Any ideas of what can cause this or what the alternating red to green LED means??

I have a Jedi convertacom thet flashes red/green also. Any ideas?

The MTVA installation instructions ( 68P81075C90-A ) on page 4 states below:

B. MTVA Diagnostic

A power-up self check of the MTVA occurs each time dc power is applied to the control unit.
A good power-up indicates that the microprocesser functions are verified and that all software
and hardware are performing properly. The LED, located on the top right corner of the holder,
indicates a good power-up when the lighting sequence is:
- red, then green, then off (no radio in holder)
- red, then green, then off, then red (radio in holder)
The last red remains, which indicates a charging condition.

The above is the only reference to the LED flash sequence so I can
only assume anything other than what is stated above is a failure.

The failures can be for various reasons such as a bad holder unit,
or a bad controller unit, or a bad cable between them, or improper
power connections, or even a stone dead bad battery on the portable
can cause problems. I have also seen some radios that were not fit
correctly into the holder unit cause connection problems. There is an
adjustment on the side of the holder unit that must keep the radio
snug in the holder unit. Not sure of what you have as you did not state
any of the part numbers you have but see below for them.

Hmm, well, after disconnecting the yellow wire for several hours, it seems like it has returned to normal now. Guess I got lucky....
