Need some ideas on where to cram a battery isolator into a 1989 Chevrolet G-20 Van, the primary battery is under the hood (and taking up most of the drivers side space) and there second deep cycle batter will be mounted in the back of the truck behind the drivers seat. Is it a good idea to run the truck start battery cable so long as to mount the isolator inside the truck? And ideas would be appreciated, thanks kindly.

Mount the isolator under the seat and the cables come up through the floor. Use #2 cable. Use an isolator that's 30% larger rating than your alternator's rating.

Make sure your DC battery is capable of being charged at a high rate. Some can only be charged via trickle. I use the Optima yellow-top batteries and the last forever.

Yeah, I had that trouble too, my DC battery couldn't handle it, so I went to an AC battery. Fixed it right up!!
