Guys... HELP!
this has turned into some sort of qwest...
i need the correct part numbers for the following radios:
EXPO
MX (series)
MCX 100 / 1000
Most all of these parts are superceeded and no longer listed as valid part numbers... those of you with manuals for the above, PLEASE PM me with VALID NUMBERS from your manuals....use the format that i used on the list - that way i can just cut and paste into the post.
For example
EXPO
NTNXXXX DES
NTNXXXX DVP
ad naseum...
Thanks!

Notes on Analog Sabers
Sabers vs Systems Sabers Securenet Module Known Incompatabilities.
Some securenet modules are not multikey, like for example some of
the modules that are also compatible with regular Sabers, hold only ONE Key.
Such as the NTN5833 and NTN5834.
These Modules will work in any Secure Capable Analog Saber ever Made including
Systems Sabers I, II, and III's and regular Saber I, II, and III's.
All SP and Government Models Included.
And as can be ascertained by the above statement, there are certain
Securenet Modules for the Saber Series that are NOT Able to work
in either the Systems Saber or the Regular Saber.
One reason for this is the fact that the Systems Saber supports OTAR and Multikey.
The normal Sabers I, II, and III do NOT.
ALL of those (Multikey with OTAR) modules will NOT work in a Regular Saber.
Such as the NTN5761 and the NTN5763.
Also some Single Key modules will NOT work in the Systems Saber.
The radio won't even power up.
Such as the NTN4711 or the NTN4712.
So it gets a little complicated and you have to do your homework, or else you might be disappointed.
Your mileage will probably not vary too much in this regard. Taxes and Tags not included.

One addition to the list.
You were curious about the letters 'CBC'....They stand for Cipher Block Chaining
The Fascinator encryption modules also take a different RSS than the standard models, Systems Sabers are the only model covered here.
The service manual for MID BAND, UHF and VHF are as follows:
MID BAND: 68P81063C30
UHF: 68P81045C75
VHF: 68P81045C70
These manuals are for the NTN7298 Fascinator module.
Motorola instruction manual #: 68P81078E
NTN1089A: Fascinator encryption module retrofit kit
Non-Fascinator module modification for use in Fascinator encrypted radios:
NTN4711A/B: Cut pin #10
NTN4712A/B: NO modifications to module
NTN4713A/B: Cut pin #10
NTN4714A/B: NO modifications to module
NTN4720A: BYPASS...NO modifications needed

NTN5835A: NO modifications to module
NTN5836A: NO modifications to module
Enncryption module changeout procedure manual: 68P81045C61
The Fascinator is capable of storing and using TWO keys, but not at the same time.
Each key MUST be loaded separately, with the keyloader, then the cable is removed from the radio for each keyload.
There are modifications to SPECIFIC radios that must be performed in order to use the Fascinator encryption module in the Saber radios.
MID BAND: All boards without an 'F'...and these are retrofittable by 2 board cuts, 2 wire jumpers and 1 resistor.
MID BAND: All boards with an 'F' are retrofittable, with NO boaard modifications necessary.
VHF: All boards without an 'F' are retrofittable with 3 board cuts, 3 wire jumpers and 1 resistor
VHF: All boards with an 'F' are retrofittable and require NO modifications to the radio.
UHF: All boards without an 'F' are NOT retrofittable, and have NO modifications done to the radio as well.
UHF: All boards with an 'F' are retrofittable and require NO modifications to the radio.
*Note: The letter 'F' is stenciled on the lower left corner of the radio PC board.

Re: SECURENET module part number list updated: 8/1/2007
I just came accross an anomaly with analog Sabers (non systems). I have a pair of 1987 1989 dated Saber!, UHF which work just fine with NTN4711A DVP modules. When I put these modules in my other 3 S1, S3 radios dated 1991 and 1992 they loose the keyload
every time when I just turn them off, battery still attached. Turn them off for a second and back on the load is gone. I swapped in a NTN5832A DVP module to these newer three radios and all is well. Guess not all radio, module combinations are compatible.

Located an MCX100 with Securenet:
VLN4128A: Left extender rail
VLN4335A: Right extender with keyloader connector hole
TRN4606B: Control head, Securenet (simple?)
TRN5666A: TOT, 60 second Option B11AK
VKN4021A: Cable Harness, TOT
VLN2126B: Hybrid carrier board (77M38 present), TRN4836A loaded (DES from above)
VLN4127B: Securenet ??? board, contains two pots (deviation?)
TRN5241A: Main upper/lower/head interconnect board
The other parts appear to be standard MCX100.

An Australian SP version of the NTN8967 DES-XL and DES-OFB module.
NTN8967ESP01
ASTRO ENCRYPTION MOD AUST
Any know what the difference is between this and a factory example?
