I have a DTMF model # HMN 1010B with a
6pin conn. Can someone tell me how to wire
it to use on a maxtrac with the 8pin conn?

Well...
Since I'm out of date, do you mean a 6-pin RJ-12 to a 8 pin RJ-45? It is possiable, just look at the wire color's in the plugs, and patch accordingly.
Get one RJ-45 female screw-type telephone surface mount box and one RJ-12 (6 conductor) screw-type telephone surface mount box.
Use some cross-connect telephone wire between the two boxes. If you don't have cross connect wire, ask the network admin for some, or borrow some from a telco outdoor wiring pedestal. Wire them up using the correct pinnings.
Beg the network admin. for a 3' Cat-5 patch cable, or borrow one from a co-workers computer (but not if you are a dispatcher.) Hook it from the Maxtrac.
Hopefully it will work...

The HMN1010 microphone is intended for use on the MOSTAR which had a 6 pin RJ11 type mic jack. I have taken this microphone, cut off the plug, and crimped on a new 8 pin RJ45 type plug so that it would work on a Maxtrac radio.
If that is what you want to do, this may help: The wire colors in the Mostar mic cable are: 1-Blue (hook), 2-Yellow (N/C), 3-Green (PTT), 4-Red (Mic Hi), 5-Black (Mic Gnd), 6-White (PTT Gnd). If you install JU6 in the mic that will common Mic Gnd with PTT Gnd so you can use only one ground wire as required for Maxtrac.
Cut off the old plug, put on a boot if you have one, strip back the cable, cut off the Yellow and White wires and insert the remaining wires into the 8 pin plug as follows:
6 - Green
5 - Red
4 - Black
3 - Blue
If you hold the RJ45 with the gold contacts up and to the right, they are numbered from 8 at the top to 1 at the bottom.
