I am at my wits end about this problem and I really need someone that works with the Spectra Mobiles to give me some direction on this intermittent problem.

I have a Spectra mobile model T84FWA7HA9AK, UHF, 100W, with a A9 Head.

The radio has a intermittent transmit problem that now has became a full
time problem. It started with sometimes not transmitting when the orange ignition sense wire was sourced with 13.8 VDC(use to be able to get it to work by sourcing and unsourcing orange wire several times). Now the radio will not transmit at all even low level(when I put a receiver on the
transmit frequency and listen there is no on channel signal present... just as if the
orange transmit ignition sense wire is not sourced,(sense wire enabled or disabled in programming makes no difference) but the red TX light on head comes on as normal when sourced (or programmed as disabled)... just no power or low level on channel signal.( I'm
pretty sure it's not final section related)Receiver does mute normal when ptt is pushed.

I've checked all the normal troubleshooting basics...it just won't go into transmit... is this a controller problem and if so is it fixable..is this a common problem... It
doesn't appear to be temperature related. There is 13.8VDC on the final
transistors as normal.

Receive is normal...Programming is normal... no fail codes...I don't think the code plug is corrupted... just no TX.

Has anyone ran across this before.

Thank you,

Phil

Hi Bill:

I chose to respond here so others may
beifit.

Although it may sound dumb,I have seen
this happen on occasion.

1. Check to insure there is " No " corrosion
on the MAIN battery DC cable from the battery
to the radio.( or the fuse )

Manytimes there is enough DC voltage and current to turn the radio on, but when it comes to drawing 20+ amps, that is another
issue.

2. Also, insure there is NO debrie between the control head contacts and radio. You can
use clean compressed air to blow out any dust
or debrie from the contacts.

3. If you are addressing a " Intermittent"
problem, try tapping on the top of the radio
when the problem is there. I mention this since sometimes the " Screws" that hold the boards in place get loose. If you have a torqx Driver Handle, I can send the proper
torq settings to you.

Again, it best to address the problem while
its in the vehical, as if you remove it, and
send it in, sometimes intermittent problems
may dissapear.

Address those areas 1stget back with me...
