Now that I have the radio working, I am having crystal problems. I ordered some frequency xtals from ICM some time ago. What I got wasn't anything like the crystals that were in the radio. The new crystals look just like the crystals you would put in an older scanning receiver or rock-bound HT, instead of the big, square crystals that Motorola put in the radio to begin with. Also, the new crystals have just two pins, where the old ones have four pins. Did they send me the wrong thing, or am I making it too hard?

I suspect ICM sent you actual crystals.
I believe what you are refering to as "crystals" are really "channel elements."
Do you have the old channel elements for the radio now? What is the part number on them?
You might want to call ICM back on this one.
Best of luck,

HI:
When you ordered the " Crystal " from International, that is what you received.
They still may make the entire Channel
Element Housing out of a plastic mold, but
I have not purchased any in a long time.
All you really have to do, is very carfully
take a sharp Knife, and place it between the
plastic Base, and the Main Housing Rivots.
May sound strange, but you can seperate the
Base from the main housing....Surprise ! The
Xtal is inside...Sometimes depending on the
element, you may have to "trim" the PC board
to make the new xtal fit...
If I remeber, the Rx does not have a Board
inside, just a cap.
If you get desperate, I could take a photo
and give a example
Good radios if you need lots of rx Audio.
