Recently, my fire dept pagers are starting to experience an open squelch problem. Whenever they are left in any mode other than alert, the squelch stays open. Its really annoying as the batteries die quickly if you are not home to reset the pager.

However, even with the squelch closed on these pagers, the batteries tend not to last to long.

Any known recalls, or anyone know if this is a widespread problem? We have about 10 pagers doing this

Well I could help you with the first part of that. When you put the switch into 1 or 2 you are in monitior. When you have it in alert you cannot monitior unless there was a call. When you are in 1 or 2 position do you here static all the time? If you do, you might need a squelch adjustment.

Now that could be caused by several things,
the squelch pot may need to be adjusted, computers and other equipment emitting Rf can also cause this.

Its not RF interfearence. You could place these in the middle of the pacific ocean, and you get squelch. Its like someone is pressing the monitor button all the time. We have adjusted the pots, no luck.
