Problem with VHF Astro Saber 1

I have bought several VHF Astro Saber I radios and most work just fine but I have three radios that behave the same way. Since there are no display on the AS-1 I have a problem identifying the exact problem. All the radios have the same flashcode and are from the same batch.

I can read and write to the radio with RSS and the codeplug does not seem to be corrupted but when I turn on the radio I can get the green multi LED to light up but I cannot get the radio to either TX or RX and I cannot go into service mode or even use the side switch that I have set to MONITOR with open SQ..... so now.... What is wrong with the radio??

.. A question for the big guys...

Sure, I will email it to you right away.

Thanks!!

By the way, the Astro Introduction that you wrote is great. A good help to people that want to make a good purchase.

I just have one thing to add to your Astro encryption list: DVI-SPFL is also available for the Astro series of products.

As far as I know the DVI-SPFL is a special flavour designed for law enforcement use. The standard 3012/3013 DVI-XL KVL will not load the DVI-SPFL module so it is indeed different.

By the way, It seems that DVI cannot be used without the LFSR routine so it is only sold as "DVI/XL".

DVI was never sold by Motorola without the XL feature. At least I have never seen a plain DVI module neither for Astro, Jedi or the analog hybrids available. only "DVI/XL" and "DVI/XL-SPFL"

... to clearify.. DVI/XL and DVI-SPFL.

Sorry for the mix-up
