WOW! 240 amps at idle and over 300 at RPM. Good solution for squads or other HD standard sized vehicles.

I got a 200 amp alternator for my 97 Lumina with new mounting brackets as well for around $800. It was from Vital Alternator out of Texas. I can't seem to find a web page for them anymore. Perhaps they aren't in business anymore??????????????
They made alternators for police, fire and ambulance services.

We just had the alternator in one of our engines replaced (11.5 volts at idle, something is wrong). It was over $1,000 for a similar amperage. We also had a high-idle installed to help prevent it from getting toasted again.

A high idle won't make it live any longer!
A cooling duct carrying cool, forced air into the rear of the alternator will.

I got a PM for my Silverado 99' for the stereo and I HATE it. I want my money back. At idle, around 600rpm voltage drops to under 12v. And sometimes the volts stay around 13.5. I am NOT happy as everytime I stop the vehicle at an intersection my lights dim BAD. Time to put STOCK 135amp back on.

I noticed that too when I had a PM alternator in the Yukon. I'm pretty sure they lied and the alternators were PEAK only at highway speed and pretty much sucked at idle.

Leece NeVille is the way to go for serious HD use.
