I've asked this question before about the HT600 which is almost the same radio.
I've been told it can be set to decode QCII but not encode.
And for the 6 channel modification, I think its only on certain models.

Mike is correct about the QCII, I have a few set up this way. HT600's
and P200's readily adapt to 6 channel conversions, no problem there.
As far as Scan goes VHF and UHF do not have this capability but Low
Band does (the lowband radio in actuality is a MT1000 in P200 plastic).
Haven't ordered any P200 parts lately so don't know if they're still available from Motorola. I do have some brand new P200 complete front assemblies with DTMF compatible with VHF and UHF models. ). They're
plug and play and listed in the BatlaBs for Sale forum under Motorola
NOS Bulk Sale if interested.

HI:
In addition to the above, there is a real
simple program 2to6.exe that will make
the conversion for you !
OR, it also can be done via Hex Editiing
by changing the very last filed to FFFF
All VHF / UHF HT600's and P200's can
easily be changed from 2 to 6 channels
or vise versa, 6 to 2.
If you want to modify your radio to
6 ch, you will also need a Escutcheon
and under the original lable, there is
a washer with a tab, and there are
2 positions....Just move the tab to
the [ 6 ] mark on the plasitic.
HT600's / P200's are pretty good radios
once set up properly, and are great for
rugged applications.
=============================
As mentioned above, no Scan, and if you
need those features, best to move up to
a MT1000. Thsoe radios have alot of features

man, i wish i knew this 2 years ago when we used HT600's.
we ended up selling the 3 2ch radios we had, since we needed each unit to have at least 4.

While we're on the topic of these radios...
How hard is it to find and how expensive are the refurb cases for HT600s and would a P200 case work as well?
Just some newb questions from someone who hasn't the guts to pop open radios from bad experiences :|

p200 case would work fine, they are identical except for color.
