They were made by Cunanan law enforcement products.. I dont know if they are even in busuness anymore. As far as a rotating light.. They suck. They took up a ton of dash space and would get hot and quit working.. I guess if you really want one I have a new one in the box at the shop. Mines alot cheaper than $90

Just wanted to know what everyone thought. I love my firebeam but its a big light takes alot of room up. plus i just want to buy another light. I had the the cadet before i didnt like cause it wasnt bright enough. I think i might buy a hotshot. I use to have one along time ago. I always like that like whats everyones opinion on that one.

Hotshot and Cadets: are ok lights - keep in mind that they aren't anywhere as bright or as fast as your firebeam that you currently have... The FedSig firebeam in my opinion is one of the best halogen dashlights out there...
Perhaps you may want to look into into LEDs if you want something slicker, more low profile... Just a thought - if you do a search for dashlights, there was a thread on "the best dashlights" halogen, strobe, LED and such a few months ago that may be helpful if you are looking for opinions and such...

I love my firebeam. I agree its one of the best. I just wanted something a little slimmer. That talon is so bright Im not all that worried. I more want for the intersections. your completely blind with a talon or strobe unit like that. Im almost thinking about the dashlazer. My friends have those an i think if i was going to get one it would be the clear an blue. but iwould add a 100 watt bulb. Oh yeh i put a 100 watt bulb in my firebeam a few years back. you thought it was bright with the 50 watt. man its really bright even during the day.

I once had a HotShot back in the day (a freebie). To be honest, I don't really find it impressive. I agree with J_S - the FS Firebeam is one of the brightest, most impressive dash rotators. If you can spare the extra $ - I'd recommend the Whelen Talon (or slimlighter) [LED]. If you want something that you are able to change colors - then I'd recommend the Tomar PLII dash strobe. Very well worth the $$ IMHO.

Try this combination. Use a Whelen Cadet with the low-profile mirror package for a Hotshot. Absolutely kicks a$$ and is not that expensive.

Just be careful you don't melt the dome with that 100W bulb.

Keep the FireBeam.
Everything else sucks...I have 2 in my car, and most of our guys have at least one in theirs.
Don't get rid of it...you'll be sorry you did.

Don't buy a hotshot or a five-o. They suck. Go with a Dashlaser. Mine's a fast speed with red/clear lenses and I have the flash mirror and it really kicks ass, looks like a lightbar is sitting on the dash.

Get a Dashlaser with a Mirror attachment. Not as big as the firebeam and i think is brighter than the hotshot.

dashlazer with the mirror is taller and wider front-to-back then the firebeam.

I had one of the early pancake lights SVP came out with in the mid 80's. It was similar to the Five-O light in size, but the SVP absolutely SUCKED. What a waste of space and lighting. I don't know about the lighting effectiveness of the Five-O but the SVP Pancake was sorry as hell. Eventually the motor just burned up due to poor design. I wouldn't own anything by SVP for sure!

hahahahaha werd.
my first light was a Tri-lite (tripp lite) teardrop.
Originally with a red dome. Which eventually melted.
Bought a replacement dome. Melted it faster with a 50 watt halogen bulb instead of the 35w incandecent.
Got a third dome. Rubber band broke.
Put a new one on, from my newspaper.
Light didnt fit in the new used car, so i gave it to a friend, and he got an amber dome.
he got creative with it, wired the bulb seperate from the motor, swapped the motor with a diffrent one, put a forward and reverse switch on it, and used it as a sort of spotlight.
I got a sho-me teardrop used.
Piece of crap got a new bulb in it. melted the top of the dome.
Got a new dome, put some foil inside as a heat shield.
Piece of crap's reflector broke.
Drop kicked it.
Went to get it.
Got a strobe beacon and put it inside.
Worked decent.
Flew off my roof once and broke.
Got a firebeam.
Loved it.
Quit the department.
Put it on ebay
Joined another department.
Got another firebeam.
Got the mirrors for it.
Traded it for a dual dash strobe.
Eventually put the dual dash strobe in the rear.
Got a magnabeam.
Traded it for a firebeam.

damn, that's a lot of lights to go through. i've got a crapload of different ones right now
red/clear dashlaser w/ mirror
amber dashlaser
blue svp teardrop
orange federal model 14 beacon ray(works)
federal model 184 beacon ray clear dome, red/blue bulbs(works but is loud as hell)
52" twinsonic w/ red domes, works but is slow, even when hooked up to a 50A charger
aerodynic w/ red/clear lenses has 4 code3 rotators in it w/ twinsonic mirrors
going to get rid of some of that stuff sooner or later

LOL. the twinsonic and all the other lights i have are in my room on a shelf with a battery charger/booster that's capable of putting out 200 amps that's on the floor and it looks cool with all of 'em hooked up at the same time.

the motor in the twinsonic needed new brushes and the chain was sticking so i fixed that and now it works like new.
