Hi:
As I have worked on many 100's of HT90's/HT440's I think I can offer
you this advice.
1. In a short answer, not really.
If you look at the back of the radio, there
should be a small white sticker saying what
the frequencies are ( was ). If it was left
in a Factory Mode piror the the xtals being
removed, you could perhaps re-install a set
that was close.
Also, you may not want to USE the Original
Freqs that were there ! They were probably
Liceased to someone, and that is why the xtals got removed.
If they were on lets asy 151.625, that is a
pretty common channel and a original Set would work very well, but even then, the
radio would have to be " Touched Up" to make
it work well.
I can still restore them
for a nominal price if you are
interested.
Unfortunitely, the cost of the Crystals
and related labor to realighn them
coupled with the cost of a new battery
and antenna many times out costs the radios
value which I see oftenn they sell for 10.00
20.00 at Swap meets....However, they still
are a Super Radio with LOTS of Audio, and
the VHF ones can put out 6-7 Watts with ease.
I would like to see the Wal-Mart Motorola
Radios due that
Monty
