I took this watch apart and found that there is a tiny IR RX and TX diode that is directed through tiny holes in the watch's face. I'm guessing this is how its programmed. I'm going to try to take some pictures of this cool little board.
Anyone interested in seeing it? or I wont bother..

clavo,
i had one of those Timex DataLink watches a long time ago....it was programmed by holding the face of the watch up to your CRT and it would flash black and white bars at the watch and that was how data was programmed, i'm pretty sure i threw away the disk with the program on it, but i will keep looking....it's probably quite similar to what this one is...
well

I remember those. Same idea but totally different on this thing... It's IR with a TX/RX combo.
Still waiting to borrow a friend camera that will take close up pics..

That's actually the Data-Link Watches that you are refering to, at least the old ones, new ones are done through a series of connections on the side of the watch. The internet messenger watches are different,a nd have no IR on them from what I can tell.

I took it apart and from what I can tell it does use IR for something. There are 2 IR LED's on the face of the watch that are directly under a tiny grid of holes on the face. Seeing as how the watch doesn't have any advertised IR features I figure it has to be for programming.
