How should I set (baud, parity...) the COM1 port of my old 386 PC to program a Motorola GP900 on 4 mts band?

Now it is very instable, sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Anyone can help me???

I'm in the states and if you need some help just ask. If you can program other jedi radio then your ok. Have you programmed other radios with your rib? If you need me to program just ask. I also have a few GP900's for sale as well UHF.

Hi steve, thanks for your answer.
It's the first time for me to program a Motorola radio. After one week of attempting, i succeded in reading the codeplugs and writing it. But it is very instable and sometimes it doesn't work. The RSS sends me an ack error. I think it is a problem with COM1 configuration.

Can you help me???

Hi!

I programed some GP900,GM900 and Euro Visar . The 900 series RSS
sucks big time. I used original RIB and 386/20 PC. Never had any problems with any other Motorola only with 900. But once you get it work GP900 is working horse

I'm having problems trying to program the gp900's, I know the RIB works as it can program the GM900 i have, pinouts i'm using are from batlabs.
any ideas what typical problems others have had, i keep getting a "Timeout" error.

Still having trouble with the programming, can someone confirm the connections are correct on the Batlabs site and that only three connections are required from RIB to radio.
PC being used is a 386/33 at the moment.
I get the "timeout" error even if the radio is disconnected from the RIB, checked that there is 1.7volts between ground(pin1) and pins 4/11.

I've just fired up the software to make some changes to my GP and GM 900 radio's but the software is very unstable and really is unusable, can someone remind me how to cure the programming problems, think i'm right that the OS should be no newer than Win98?

If you are attempting to run a DOS RSS under Windows 98 you are going to have nothing but trouble. Most RSS versions will not run right under the fake DOS that W98 provides. You may be able to read the radio but you probably will not be able to write to it. This subject has been beaten to death on this Board and there are tons and tons of references to this specific problem. If you boot the program from DOS 6.22 your problems will probably disappear.

Also, you have made a post to a thread whose last post was about six years ago, so if you want to pursue the matter and get better results you'd be well advised to start a new thread.

Thanks for the info, it all came flooding back yesterday as i searched around for an old pc to try and use for the programming, due to unfortunate circumstances the guy that used to help has passed away so it has been left to me to sort things out. I've now been able to program both the GM900 and GP900 radios plus found a solution to problem posted elsewhere ref the internal/external speaker not operating on the GM model.
