Mobile EOC Cost question

I was involved in a conversation on the cost of building a mobile EOC. Costs in excess of 1/2 million USD were casually mentioned. Are these numbers real?
A full size, raised roof RV conversion on a bus chassis can be had for ~$100,000 US. Can the radios, oversize generator, & specialized equipment cost $400,000?

Yup they are accurate. I wouldn't really call these conversions but build-outs as they start with new chassis and go from there.

A mobile EOC can be anything from a converted ambulance to a state of the art $500K unit.
See the link below, I have no connection with this company, just that they are local to me:

I have been in Phoenix Fire Department's Mobile Command Unit, it was built by E-One and was probably in the $500K range in today's dollars.

It depends on what you are looking for, our agency purchased a 2001 30’ mobile home with a slide out from Federal Surplus for $8500. We chose a trailer because we have a vehicle that would pull it, and felt we didn’t want another vehicle to maintain. We modified the front bed room and made a communications center. The equipment consists of 6 radios, low band, UHF, VHF and a zetron 4010 console with a repeater system and handhelds. I purchsed a Monotola Syntor X and a programming module from Piexx so we have a programable radio to help with interoperability with other agencies. We have over $30,000 in communications equipment so the front half of the trailer is the expensive part. The rest is used for meeting space and rehab for the workers, as we left the bunks, bathroom, and refridgerator in place. The best part is we didn't have to put much money into the trailer it self, just clean everything up. I was told it was a portable housing unit during floods in Texas

The gentlemen I was talking to in the start of the thread asked me to make power cables and a distribution system for the unit they are building (I did DC power systems for telecomm gear and still have the tools)
On a purely personal note, are their any "homebuilt" mobile EOC's or Comm Units that the Board members might have pictures of?

The unit actually belongs to me and not the organization.
I'm thinking about building a bigger one. Probably on a 5th wheel type trailer.
Thanks,
Steve
