It is very easy if you order the complete replacement kit. Every thing is already assembled, all you have to do is remove the knobs, antenna. Then gently pry up the bottom of the chasis, (remove battery first) unplugg the ribbon cables. The bottom of the ribbon cable connectors are hinged so that they flip up. The case assembly is replaced by following the steps in reverse. If you order all the parts, ( You can sometimes find them on ebay.) be carefull when replacing the ribbon cables. The speaker, microphone, and accessory connector. these sometimes can give you problems. I know on the HT1250's you can get the complete assembled case for less than $100.

What radios do you own?: Kenwood and Motorola.

I know this is a really old post, but does the refurb kits for the HT-750's include a new ribbon cable for the speaker mic jack? I have an HT-750 that I believe the only thing wrong with it is the cable contact on the outside are bad. It works, just won't read or write and the ribbon has some scratches on it from use.

Normally, the recase kits only include the accessory connector escutcheon which almost gets destroyed when you are removing the flex on a recase. I would contact escomm on this board. Unless you're real careful when peeling off the accessory connector that is stuck on with adhesive, then it's normal to replace the flex. I've had to replace it on a few recases, and some I got lucky and was able to preserve the flex on the new case. If you have a heat gun, you can heat around the connector carefully to loosen up the adhesive but be careful not to melt the escutcheon. Sorry, I do not have the MOL part number.
