MCS2000 Volume stuck on full

My valium is stuck all the way up on a model 3. The knob has no effect.
The adjustment for rated audio in the service programming DOES however
change the level, but the knob still won't affect it. My accessory plug has
1+2 and 4+9 jumped. The head is remoted, BTW..

ANY IDEAS?

Thanks.

Thanks.
Maybe ask your doctor?

There is a function that is designed to set the LEAST volume that can be commanded by the volume knob. It is designed to prevent officers who are bored from turning the radio down so low that they miss calls. Sounds like someone has goosed this feature way up.

Nope. That's not it. Anyone else?

Oh, yeah--I meant to say it's a model-2 (it was late)

Did you choose (dunno if possible!) the extended microphone or handheld-controller? That one got his own volume controller...

Definitely didn't select the HHCH; I don't remember seeing anything
about an extended mike. I'll look, but I doubt it.
One question- how different is the wiring for the standard MCS mike
from say, a Maxtrac/Radius mike? (though the volume problem
is there even with no mike plugged in)

My guess is that you'd probably need a valium after having your volume stuck on full all the time.[/b]

The same. A Radius mic works just fine on an MCS, and vice versa.

Sounds like the control has lost it's ground connection--will run wide open if it does--this could just be a re-solder all 3 volume control connections @ circuit board fix. Good luck--Blitz.

That sounded the most promising so far; reflowed all three points; no go.
Thanks, though.
What's interesting is (keeping in mind I've since turned the volume down
in the service part of RSS so I don't go batty) when the radio powers up,
you hear a split second of full volume, then back to where it's set.
someone is bringing over another head and cable to try tomorrow.

BTW, anybody know how to initiate the CH TEST (after pushing the MON
button 5 times to get to SERVICE) so I can test the switches, including
the volume knob? On my MTS portable I can test the on/off or 0/1 states
of all the buttons, plus 0-255/255 states of the volume knob. Also how to
get past RF TEST to the rest of it, too.

Tnx all.

(3 years later:) Turns out it was a REAR head. I guess they're different.(or maybe some jumper is?) Anyhow,
another head solved the problem. I sold it 2 1/2 years ago anyway so who cares.... No, that's right- I traded
it to my friend for a brake job.
