I am getting a Mic which at first was given the impresion that it will work on a Saber now I hear it works for a Astro.
I havnet recieved it yet but if i attach the astro mic to the saber , all it will do is not work correct? wouldnt short anything?
I can have a friend solder the leads on the saber mic to fit the asto leads so in theory thayt will allow it.
I wanted a round mic but made the mistake of listening to someone on here in regards to purchasing

Hi:
Motorola already thought of that for
you.
If you try and use a Astro/Saber/SI mic
on a Standered Saber and vs Versa it should
not harm either the raido or the Mic.
It simply just will not function.
Altough I have the diagram for the noraml
Saber, I have taken the Astro/Saber/SI mics
apart ( they are glued together ) and they
do not really look anything like the Standered Saber types.
When time permits, I will examine the Speaker
Impeadence and mic and see if they are the same. I do know there is a host of RF Chokes
and componets used in the normal Saber Mic
Series.

Hi:
1st the photo is best viewed on a 17" Monitor
Since you already have a Astro/SI mic, if you
should decide to try and rewire it, below is the diagram of the normal Saber Series Mic
If you give up, I do have a Brand New Saber
Mic in the box I can offer to you.

mostly I would take apart the rubber gasket that attaches to the radio housing and look at the wires and tehn use the standard know how to just solder the pieces to it color for color.
unless of course someone wants to trade me a saber round mice for a astro round mic

So....the glue has replaced the service friendly rubber gasket.
Here again a manufacturer makes a product made to be assembled once and not repaired.
That's OK for the manufacturer as they get to sell another microphone and keep the income flowing.
Bad for the service tech. as he could have repaired it and maybe got another couple of years out of it.
