Quantar software version question

Post by VSP5151 »

I have Quantar version R12.01.00 which works on all the radios I maintain. Last year we bought a spare radio (UHF). I just tried to program it by loading one of my old code plug information into the new radio, received a message that it was older than the one that was in it, accepted that and now I have several red lights that stay on on the control board and when I try to read it, it says codeplug is blank. Did I ruin the codeplug and do I need newer software to program this newer radio?

You may have broken the codeplug. The issue that remains is, can you fix it. I've attached below a tiny piece of a table that explains the relationship between RSS and station firmware versions, and what may happen if it's incompatible. If your firmware is significantly higher than what's in the table, there may be incompatibilities that are serious enough to cause big problems. I got this from a the help.txt file in the 12.01.00 directory. If I remember correctly, there's a readme on the RSS install floppy that gives release info. My 12.03 has a date of 9/10/02, so if this is a new station as of last year, you may need the latest which is 12.06 with an exe date of 9/15/03. Try reading the old CP with a compatible release and push it into the station - read the help.txt file.
