Can anyone introduce X-Pand and LLE audio compression technology built in Motorola rigs? I'm quite impressed the loud and clear sound which is not found in amateur rig. Maybe the website post such article to show it thoroughly. Thanks anyone responding !!

The way I understand it, with Xpand, the audio is fed into a "Compander" before it is trasmitted.
A compander is a compressor and expander built into one. Compressers reduce dynamic range, expanders reduce noise.
Real life users of companders are your average cellphone and RealAudio web-casts.
