I have tried numerous times to mod my MTSX RSS's .odb file for out of band programming. I have had no luck with it. I have modfied just about all of my other RSS's no problem using BatLabs instructions. But, the MTSX instructions are a bit fuzzy to me and I could use a little help on this one. If anyone could help me, possibly tell me what bytes need changed I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Just finished doing one but didn't write down the off set location. It was 935.0125 that I had to change. I was pleasantly suprised to see the MTX9000 lock up and transmit on 902.5, 919.9, 927.5. Now I just have to find a signal generator to see if it can hear at both ends of the band.

I have a MT2000 in the 450-512 split and I want to get it down into the 440 amateur band.

I had to go and tweak mine last night - I had done it for 900 a while ago, but I suddenly wanted to put an "S" MT2000 in the ham band.

Anyway, it's easy - make a backup copy of your mtsx.odb file (just in case) then load it into your favorite hex editor (I use the "batlabs standard" Hex workshop).

Do a "find" throughout the file for the ASCII number you want to change - for example, for the "S" UHF band, I was looking for ASCII "450". You will find several (one is for the RSS display, the rest affect the operation of the RSS) - change all of them to whatever you want (in my case, "430" - so all I had to do was change the one character from "5" to "3". The upper limits are the same - if you don't know what the exact number is you are looking for, just search for a known number (like my "450") - they are all inthe same area.

There doesn't seem to be a checksum for the .odb file, so you don't have to do any trix with that..

p.s. - jhooten - I think you will find the MTX9000 will be deaf below 926 or so.. some make it to 925, but not many..

Thanks Hartley, thats exactly what I have been trying to do, all of my attempts. I just tried again a few minutes ago, this time with lab. because not even my version of lab will take the out of band freqs. Which makes me think that the regular RSS .odb was sent with this sopy of lab.

I have run into the checksum error and I just mod the copyright to fix that problem.

What are you using? I use WinHex and it worked like a charm. In fact, I have a MT2000 high split and I've used the newer RSS that I didn't hack the ODB file on and I can modify the frequency with no problem. I can send you the ODB file if you want. Shoot me a PM with your email address.

Mine worked fine for MTX9000 ham freqs.

I can't find my notes, but there are multiple places you have to change.
If I remember right, there are two "ranges", one for below 902 and one for above.
Change the upper limit on the lower range to 940, change the lower limit on the upper range to 880.
That should allow allow just about anything...

I hope you're wrong but am afraid you're right. There are two 900 repeaters listed in Texas and the output on both is 919.9. At least I can do simplex on the high end of the band and avoid the crowds on 2 and .7 meters

Anyway it didn't hurt to bad. Got the MTX and a 900 spectra for $60. Time to order the filters for the spectra.

Out of 5 of the MTX9000s I have tried on the Ham band.
Only 2 of them worked well enough to keep.
So I advise to test em b4 you buy em.
They will tx low end, and tx / rx on the high end, but only so far into the ham band. VCO limitations/variations, change with temp too...
Luckely, in CA, the repeaters tx high and rx low.

If you use LAB, you can program 380 to 520 on the UHF splits, with no RSS modifications required.

I found my notes on changing the MTSX.ODB file for the MTX9000;
Hex edit per batlabs;
Find ALL (there are several) instances of 935 and change to 896 (or desired low limit)
Find ALL 901 and change to 940 (or desired upper limit)

Thanks guys for all of your tips and help, I got it going. I was used to the splits being together in the file, I finally realized that the first group of ranges were the low ends and the second group was the high end of the split. 4 groups or limits, 2 for TX and 2 for RX, it makes so much sense now.

This was unlike the SP-50 or P200 RSS where the splits were toegther xxxMHz-xxxMHz

I have not been able to find the 137-900 mhz splits part on the ODB file or the right side of the screen like it shows on batlabs, I have been able to find the 39 and 45 mhz split as well as steps and tones when getting to the top on the left side I see this, 000001C908 next 000001C922 then 000001C93C, 000001C956/000001C970 I am using Hex Editor. Any direction would be very much appreciated.
