Hello Everyone,

I am writing a HT1250 codeplug with R04.00.00 CPS for Professional series radios.

I am trying to program the scan lists, and I have a couple of questions.

1) - For each Conventional Personality there is a scan list option under the scan tab. If I want to leave scan lists 1 and 6-7 open for user-programmable scan, should I set this option to disabled or for List 1? Or does it matter?

2) - On a limited Keypad HT1250, how do you disable a channel with the nuisence delete? How do you add a channel with the User-Programmable scan to a scan list?

2) You need to define one of your 3 option side buttons as nuisance delete (either short or long press) or one of your p1, p2, or p3 buttons on the front. Again, program your choice of short or long press.
To add, delete, modify priority modes of your scan list, you need to enable this per channel and then make this menu item available. Then simply access this through the menu button or link it to an option side button to easily access it.

As an example, I used to set up HT1250 programmable buttons like this:
Top button - scan on/off and long press was nuisance delete
2nd button under PTT did repeater/talkaround and long press brought up scan list modify
3rd button yielded squelch/monitor and long press gave me sticky monitor.

Not sure how I set up P1, 2, and 3, but one of them was keypad lock, the other was radio call...

I assume "Toggle System Scan On/Off" to be the Scan on/off function.

So far I have my button set up like this:

Upper Side Button:
- Short Press: Toggle System Scan On/Off
- Long Press: Nuisance Delete

Middle Side Button:
- Short Press: Scan List Edit
- Long Press: Toggle Power high/Low

Lower Side Button:
- Short Press: Monitor
- Long Press: Sticky Permanent Monitor

P1 Button:
- Short Press: Toggle Tight/Normal Squelch
- Long Press: Unassigned

P2 Button:
- Short Press: Voice Storage Playback
- Long Press: Voice Storage Record

P3 Button:
- Short Press: Speed Dial (Memory)
- Long Press: Status

You have to forgive my questions... The most advanced Radio I have is a Saber, so al lthese options are new to me.

I'm also trying to set up the "DTMF Call" menu. I have several Dial-in codes I will need to use. Can I use the DTMF Call for pre-programming these?

Yes, toggle scan is indeed on/off for the scan function (this will be audibly confirmed by a hiLo tone for on, and a low-hi tone for off or vice versa...).

On a limited keypad 1250 you can preprogram your phones list for your dtmf sequences needed.
I set up a few access codes in the call alert or selective call menu as well, so I can easily access them. If you need to veer off the preprogrammed numbers, I recommend programming single digit DTMF tones into the menu, so you have the flexibility to dial a creative dtmf sequence if needed, i.e. *, #, 1, 2, 3 etc... Not as fast as a DTMF keypad, but will do the job on a limited keypad model.

Well, I'm almost done with it now. If I could just figure out the answer to my first question...

I don't understand your question. On the scan tab for each convention you choose the scan list that you want for that channel. Under the scan list programming, you choose whether you want to allow user-programming for each scan list. If you check user-programmable scan list for say scan list 1, but not 2-6 - you will be able to modify the scan list on any channel that has scan list 1, but not 2 through 6.

What I meant was that under the conventional personality, if I assign the channel to scan list one, will I still be able to add that channel to other scan lists that are user-programmable.

as an example..

Scan list 1 (user programmable):

Ch 56 - assigned to list one
Ch 09 - assigned to list one
Ch 48 - assigned to list one

Scan list 7 (user programmable)

Ch 72 - assigned to list one
Ch 56 - assigned to list one
Ch 22 - assigned to list one

I guess what I was trying to ask is that if I assign a channel to a scan list in the personalities window, will I still be able to add that channel to other user-programmable lists...

There are sooo many options to the CPS that it is hard to get the radio to do what you wish. As far as I have figured out, through reading the posts here and nosing around the software, if you set a channel(personality) scan tab to a certain list, it will scan that particular list.
These also depend on the particular zone you have them set into.

Example:

Scan list 1 (user programmable):

Ch 56 - assigned to list one Zone 1 CH 1
Ch 09 - assigned to list two Zone 1 CH 2
Ch 48 - assigned to list three Zone 1 CH 3

Now if you notice that I added the zone that the particular personality is in, and also the channel selection of the know pos. When you are set to Zone 1 and have channel knob to Pos.1 You will scan list 1. when the knob goes to Ch 2, you will be scanning list 2 ETC....

This will allow you to be able to select different scan lists that are set (under the Scan tab you were referring to) depending on the knob position. As far as I have been able to do, I have set different scan lists to certain personalities(channels) so I can change the list of scanned channels without switching zones.

Currently: In my EMS Zone
I have set the local weather band as Knob pos 16 for that personality.
Under the personality Scan list option, I have set it to scan list 16
Scan list 16 includes all the weather bands
This means that I can goto channel 16 on the knob and it will begin scanning the weather bands and it will stop on whatever channel has a signal.

baycroc is correct. Essentially, what the selection on the scan tab means is, if this personality is currently selected (regardless of which zone or channel within the zone), and you start scan, it will start scanning that scanlist.

In my experience this option is usefull if you have several more or less static scanlists, like one per zone, or type of channel. So for example if you land on a Fire channel, it could scan all your Fire channels, if you land on a weather channel, it could scan all your weather channels.

Personally, since I almost never need to scan more than a few channels at a time (and if I do I use the scanner, ha ha), I have all my channels set to scanlist 1, and I build the scanlist to suit my needs. I find it less confusing that way but your milage may vary.

Thanks for the replies guys. Since my original posting I have gotten that HT1250, traded it off, gotten another, traded it off, and I don't have any Motorola gear at all now

Actually, I discovered that checking the "User Programmable" box on the scan list tab for every list made them all programmable.
